The internet wins again

one bride's stress is another bride's treasure. That's what I learned this week. I found a posting on, you guessed it, craisglist for 100+ votive holders wrapped in brown ribbon for $30. I pounced as I normally do. Luckily they were still available and I enlisted some BM help again to assure safety.

We arrived to find the 100+ holders very nicely wrapped in ribbon but unfortunately half didn't have candles and the other half had the old candles stuck in them. Sooo I offered her 20 and became the proud owner for 100+ votive holders half with old candles.

I decided to burn one of the candles to see how long they would last, thinking maybe I could save some money by using the ones with candles already in them, but it only lasted about 2 hours and I was slightly concerned it would look bad. So enter the internet again.

Now when we picked up the candles you can tell the previous bride spent hours picking out the old candles, there was wax everywhere, and she admitted she gave up and that is partly the reason for the sale.

But after, oh I don't know, 2 seconds on google I discovered you can freeze them and the wax just pops right out.

and viola

don't worry i am going to use the old candles for our mason jars on the deck, maybe even melt some together and make other candles we shall see!

also this reminds me of the time we used the internet to get the wax out of the carpet @ 172. I think we used a paper towel and an iron.... and PRESTO no more wax disaster.
