Deposit Down

So our deposit is in and the date is set. We are going to be married in the fall of 2010 here. We are really excited and can't wait to get the ball rolling, but most of that will have to wait until after I take the BAR exam in July.

This may be my last post for a while, as finals start this week and then its graduation time, or at the very least my posting will be very sporadic.

Until I am back you can look at this beautiful picture of the view from our reception site:

Craigslist

I love craigslist. LOVE IT. Some may say I am obsessed with craigslist. Which turned out to work in my favor this week (as it usually does).

As I searched craigslist for great finds this week, I decided to add wedding dresses to my search repertoire. JACK POT.

I found a woman, who I later learned, was selling off inventory after getting out of the wedding dress industry and she was selling dresses for cheap. REAL cheap. $50-$100 cheap. I am lucky enough to be the sample wedding dress size so when I saw her post that she had 10+ dresses in my size I pounced.

I now am in possession of a beautiful wedding dress that I only paid $100 for. If you wanna ruin the surprise you can view it here.

It had everything I was looking for and the price was just right. The only thing that I will likely change is that I plan on adding a jacket like one of these:

Budgets & Bargaining

We meet with our (potential) wedding venue this weekend. If all goes as planned this will be our wedding location. When we went to look at it the first time, the coordinator told us everything we wanted to hear. Like we won't "nickle and dime" you and they swore the per person price they quoted us included tax and tip. I am in fear that when we go there this weekend all of those things will change and the location will become out of our reach, as it is already at the top of our budget. I think I am going to spend the next few days looking over sample venue contracts and writing down everything we need and what we can afford. Blah but making budgets is depressing! But I guess also necessary. Blah. Hopefully I will be able to post more exciting news after Sunday!

BMs

So I want my bridesmaids to be able to wear their dresses again. There I said it, lets move on. I at least want them to buy a dress they would want to wear again even if they never do.

So I am thinking either little black dress or little brown dress. I will likely go chocolate brown since it will be a fall wedding. I think I will tie them all together with simple pashminas, jewelery, and flowers like this:

Bikes!

They are economical and fun, and they will be a part of our wedding for sure. Especially since the fiance works for a bicycle company, rides bikes all weekend long, and well has quite the collection of bicycles in our basement. So you can rest assured that bikes will be involved some how. So for fun here are some of my favorite bike wedding combos!

and this one proves bike wedding getaways never go out of style!

I don't think we will have a ceremony location that allows us to ride off on a bike but if we do you can be sure there will be bike riding!

Dress

I have some dress dilemmas

1. I have a large bust
2. I have little money
3. I have a large (beautiful) tattoo on my back

Now the bust presents its own set of challenges (no pun intended) but the combo bust/tattoo is proving more challenging then I had anticipated.

I either want to completely cover the tattoo or showcase the tattoo, my father would prefer the former the fiance the later :) Half and Half tattoo just looks weird and kinda like I forgot that I have a huge tattoo on my back.

Has anyone had any luck finding a dress for big busted women that is also backless? The whole unable to wear a bra part is a little intimidating for me, or maybe someone has some good advice on how to keep the girls up without a bra?

I did find a backless bra crazy right?

But I am not sure how it will fit, has anyone tried one of these before?

Used

The fiance has taught me the art of buying used. Its so incredibly liberating and exciting to "hunt" for the things you want. It is also very economical and environmentally friendly.

I just got back from a day of garage sales (I love spring!) and I am inspired by the idea of only buying used for our wedding. Nothing new.

Like thats gonna happen

So flowers are a big concern of mine. I think flowers are wasteful and expensive too expensive. So I am constantly searching for alternatives.

So I saw this on Martha

But really thats not going to happen. I am not that crafty. So I have been looking at grocery store flowers.

and I love this idea! An even better idea might be Farmer's Market Flowers!

Here are some grocery store bouquets!
