The Curse

Part of the curse of being economical is sometimes you have to make do with what you have (find). In my case my wedding dress was a steal at $100 its price tag makes me love the dress more than I thought I could love a dress, but alas it has its draw backs for instance it is about half a size too small. :\

So this is me vowing (yet again) to get my butt in shape and lose some of the excess weight I have managed to gain thanks to law school, beer, and sitting at a computer for most of the day. Here it is in writing to hold myself accountable: my wedding dress will have to be taken in for my wedding day (even if it is only a little).

Ceremony

With all the excitement of planning a huge party it can be easy to lose sight of the most important part of the wedding, the ceremony! We are currently up at Lake George for memorial day so we drove past our venue which, conveniently was set up for another wedding. This allowed us to see the outdoor ceremony set up in person, which lead to me obsessing all weekend about it.

Who are we going to have officiate it? What are the laws regarding officiants? What if there aren't enough chairs for everyone? What kind of "alter" do we want to have? How are we going to walk down the aisle? Who is going to play the ceremony music? (Ladies I know you know some men who play guitar, so get on that.)

Of course none of those questions will be answered this weekend so I diverted my attention to, you guessed it, looking at pretty pictures of wedding ceremonies!

Some of my favs:

via Charlotte Geary I love the idea of creating an aisle with petals (leaves?!?) along the side.

I think this one is a little "busy" and I am not keen on runners but the colors are on point!

Bouquet

While I am still in love with these I stumbled upon the history of bridal bouquets the other day.

I was intrigued to learn that they originated as herbal bouquets carried to ward off evil spirits in various cultures including roman, greek, and celtic cultures.

This intrigued me because we have an herbalist in the family, not only does she work as the buyer of herbs for a local co-op, she has her own herbal apothecary, and she grows more herbs then you can shake a stick at. What a great way to incorporate her into our wedding!

Now some eye candy.

for my loyal followers

Since my reader contingency mainly consist of the 5 lovely women of my bridal party I figured I would give you some more eye candy.

I mentioned before that I didn't want my BMs to have to buy a new dress that they will never wear again. I also just want them to go find a dress that THEY love and are comfortable in and not worry on waiting for me, especially since we are all going to be in different places over the next few months.

So I found some brides who just said to their BMs buy a dress in this color and meet me at the ceremony. My color (as of right now) is chocolate brown. Be warned ladies this could change at any moment. hehehe. But here are some of those brides

An Apple a Day

Our wedding is in the fall, and while I love pumpkins (I am the first to organize a pumpkin picking day) I don't know how I feel about them for the wedding. So I was brainstorming other centerpiece ideas that are "fallish" and don't include pumpkins, and I saw this idea board:

Since I really like red and chocolate brown as a combo color for fall, if I used apples I would use red apples, but aren't these adorable?

Ok off to hunt for more photos...

Hahahaha

How True...

I was reading a posting the other day on one of the many wedding forums I visit, and one bride was having a real hard time coming to terms with the fact that her bridesmaids were uninterested in her wedding and had "disappeared". Her immediate reaction was that they were ditching her and didn't care about her. I think she just probably talked about her wedding so much they started avoiding her. To which I thought "DON'T LET ME BE LIKE THAT GOD PLEASE." So I found this e-card to remind me. LOL.

Hmmmm.....

This wedding is making me re-think everything.

A super simple wedding at home with just close friends and family sounds so romantic and well way more budget friendly.

Just look at how cute they are:

I think I might need to seriously think about this...

E-Session

We took some photos for fun. I am sure I will insist upon more of these but here are a few from the first round.

I think we all knew I was lying...

When I said I would be posting more sporadically.

1. I love these and had to post them via Vintage Glam Blog

2. I just wanna say that I love wedding planning. Yes I love it and just like other brides I love talking about my ideas. But honestly I don't care (that much). I care way more about whether I pass the bar exam or whether I will get the chance to travel and see the world, then I do about this one day. So yea I give anyone permission to roll their eyes at me during this process. But just remember, chances are you would do the same :p cause its fun to plan fancy parties for your friends and loved ones.
